Highland Village is located at 33°5′17″N 97°3′21″W (33.087940, -97.055874). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.4 square miles (17 km²), of which 5.5 square miles (14 km²) is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), or 13.88%, is water.
